Mother Earth, you give us everything. We are humbled to be here.
Let us continue to give thanks every day. Happy Earth Day fellow earthlings.
Home
I hope you are all finding yourself well and at peace.
Don’t forget to fuel your body with a rainbow assortment of local food. Here’s one version of the kind of meals we eat at home! Always feels good to eat homemade food in homemade bowls too :)
The Road Less Taken
How often do you free yourself of habit, break out of routine and act with your heart? We all fall into it and of course have our responsibilities, but every so often let’s listen to our curiosities and wander down the road less taken to see it slowly but surely become the road equally taken.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Here we are, sliding into the new year of two thousand nineteen. Last year I was a bit absent from my blog, simply as life happens, shifts occur and time passes. I have to say, I missed storytelling through this outlet so will be sharing more as this year unfolds. Here’s a post to toast the new calendar year and bring light to the key words, intention and mindfulness. May we have loving awareness for ourselves, our environment, and one another—human, plant, animal alike.
This is a little beachside story that I hope you’ll enjoy.
Wake up and let’s go. I promise you the ocean will cradle you more than your bed.
It could be that my favorite way to hang out with friends is to leave it to timing and fate. I bumped into a friend the first day I got back to Hawaii and it pretty much marked the theme of this trip home and into the new year. When you feel that connectedness at the roots it is something of a treasure whether it be with friends, family, sometimes strangers. It was a sweet, sweet couple of hours to share with dear ones. Sitting on the warm morning sand somewhere between the mountains and the sea, we were just some kids sharing fruit, drinking in the salty air, talking story about plants and the stars.
Nectar
The sunshine, always flirting with tanned, freckled skin.
The plumeria in new bloom, tastes of the sweetness of home.
Home sweet, supple home, Hawai'i nei.
